I’m Bill Meeks, and I’ve spent the last couple months working on a new audio drama podcast, Everly Heights Tales, launching this week on September 15th. The show is a series of standalone character-driven stories set in a fictional small town (Everly Heights) where every story asks a central question: “Is nostalgia a good thing?” The series is brought to life by a large and talented ensemble, with nearly 30 actors performing in this first batch of episodes.
The entire series grows from the shared history of a small fictional town I created five years ago, based on the small town where I grew up, but you’ll see a bit of your town in it.
Upcoming Episodes:
- “Everly Heights: A Local’s Guide” (9/15)- A piece of narrative world-building that introduces listeners to the town through the eyes of a local yo-yo YouTuber.
- “Welcome, Freshmen” – (9/22) A darkly satirical take on 1990s sitcoms, complete with important life lessons backed by sentimental strings. It’s our most ambitious tale, featuring a cast of over a dozen actors and plenty of hilarious improvised material from our talented group of fifteen actors.
- “The Museum of What Was” (9/29)– A full-blown mini-musical following a traveling salesman who returns to his hometown only to find it a shadow of its former self. The episode features five original songs and an extensive aftershow where I discuss the real people and places that inspired the story.
From me and my fantastic cast: Enjoy the show!
